Adidas Originals continues to rework its NMD R1 silhouette, this time around seeing a trio of speckled and tape tweaked Boost-equipped sneakers drop for Spring/Summer 2019.
The “Speckle Pack” sees white, black and red pairs of the soft textile-mesh wrapped NMD R1 pair up with premium touches of suede and contrasting sole plugs that are set off with the all-new speckle print. Suede also appears on the heel and is overlayed with the classic NMD rubberized heel tab and pull tab, which features text that continues to wrap around and define the sleek silhouette.
A tape of multilingual typography has been inserted between the two speckle-adorned sole plugs, and continues to section the shoe into its unique components, outlining the contrasting heel and wrapping across the vamp and down alongside the tonal three stripes.
The adidas NMD R1 “Speckle Pack” is set to release on April 4 at adidas retailers and on adidas.com for $130 USD. For more standout adidas sneakers, check out the YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “Glow-in-the-Dark” that is expected to drop sometime this Summer.
It is no secret that the adidas NMD has fallen off significantly over the last few years, giving way to more trendy creations the likes of the Yung-1 and the Falcon. While that might be the case, the Three Stripes continues pushing forward with the influential sock-like runner, creating new color schemes and bringing new-look embellishments to the pseudo-icon. For its next act, the NMD R1 calls upon a clean and simple grey outfit, but adds a never-before-seen diagonal pattern to its midsole with stripes that continue to get thicker as the graphic begins to wrap around the model’s heel. Completed by a set of grainy bumpers atop its stark white Boost-laden midsole, Three Stripes enthusiasts can have this new NMD R1 from select adidas houses right now.
A more technical take on original NMD stylings, the adidas NMD TS1 has been relatively quiet over the past few months, but now it’s returned in an eye-catching new colorway complete with signature Japanese detailing. The three-quarter cut upper is constructed of a lightweight and flexible white Primeknit, interspersed with grey patterns that add contrast and textured detailing. Although the base is compelling on its own, the accents really push the design over the edge: red and blue taped overlays embellished with both adidas NMD and Japanese character branding appear on the lateral midfoot. Further pops are then provided by a suede heel piece and a toggle lacing system with a blue holder. The midsole rounds the design off, boasting full-length Boost cushioning with finishing touches provided by factory-style branding on the forefoot brick and thin black diagonal stripes on the heel. This new creation has been popping up at various Foot Locker EU sites over the past few weeks, so stay tuned for further info on a US release, as they’ll surely arrive stateside soon.
